Susan Porter is a strong supporter of public education. She believes that Nashua's children deserve the best education we can give them.
Mrs. Porter was a public school teacher at the elementary level for 34 years. She recently retired from teaching, and wants to use her experience to give back to our community. Having worked in multiple classroom settings and having served on numerous committees, she has first-hand experience in the practical implications of both local and national educational initiatives. Her experience brings a valuable perspective when considering and voting on issues of importance to our schools.
Mrs. Porter earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a Master of Arts in Education from Lesley University. She holds current New Hampshire teacher certifications in English for Speakers of Other Languages and in Elementary Education (K-8).
Mrs. Porter worked in Lowell, Massachusetts for six years and taught students in preschool and grades 1 and 3. During her 28 years at Mount Pleasant Elementary School in Nashua, she taught English language learner students and students in grades 2, 4 and 5.
