Our mission statement- Dream big. Work hard. Achieve success.
Welcome to Broad Street School! We are a neighborhood school of approximately 350 students located in Nashua, NH. We pride ourselves on the innovative instructional programs and practices that have been incorporated to improve student and teacher performance. Some of these practices include: The On-Going Assessment Project, The Daily Five, Readers Workshop, Instructional Consultation, Responsive Classroom and WIN (what I need) Time. WIN time is a school- wide system of intervention to address the various needs of our learners. Twice per week, all students receive small group instruction by all staff to meet their specific learning needs. Groupings are based on student need and enrichment and intervention is offered.
We will be continuing with standards-based grading systems and looking forward to implementing Eureka Math and Lucy Calkins Units of Study in Writing. These two programs support the standards in which our teachers work with and students are being held. We will continue to work on inquiry. We encourage students to ask questions- lots of them! Check out our Wonder Wall outside the office when you visit.
With the addition of two special needs Pre-K classrooms, we now have nine district-wide special education programs at Broad Street, exemplifying our continuous work in meeting the needs of all students. We will continue to build positive climate and culture within the building this year through responsive classroom, morning meetings, explicit behavior expectations and instruction. We are also happy to announce we will be working to teach the Zones of Regulation. The Zones is a systematic, cognitive behavior approach used to teach self-regulation by categorizing all the different ways we feel and states of alertness we experience into four concrete zones. The Zones curriculum provides strategies to teach students to become more aware of, and independent in controlling their emotions and impulses, managing their sensory needs, and improving their ability to problem solve conflicts.
Our PTO is highly involved and is eager for your participation! There are many opportunities to become involved and attend our family events. Their link can be found on the PTO website. If you would like more information or to visit to our school, please contact us.
